Call for participation in the Global Action Day for education, 30.11.2006

Everywhere in the world, social conditions become ever more precarious. Everything is to be subjected to the forces of the market. More and more parts of life are handled as wares, as for example health, social security and education. However, the resistance movement all over the world is constantly growing.

Since about a year, world-wide revolts break out, which are not only about the right to education anymore. In France, students as well as other social forces brought a law to the abolishment of the protection against dismissal (CPE) to case. In Greece, students occupied nearly all universities of the country and repelled privatisation to a large extent. In Chile, pupils resist a school law from the Pinochet dictatorship. In Mexico the teacher trade union created 'Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca' (APPO), which keeps for quite some time the province capital Oaxacas occupied. In Germany, students blockade motorways, train stations and much more besides, in order to prevent study fees. All these arguments show the fact that the concerning are no longer ready to beg for national alms, but that offensively for their rights occurs it. For us, the Global Action Day on 30 November is an opportunity to point out the global connections of the individual fights and, together self-confidently as well as emancipated for solidarity to be active free education and world-wide justice. Therefore we call to creative and decided resistance forms: Actions for the reappropriation of public areas, from which we are to be excluded increasingly, are on this day for us the means of the choice.

On November 30th, 2006 there will be a worldwide action day for free education.

In the european social forum there has been the idea to take on a global action day for education because the neoliberalism, especialy the G8, are forcing education to be trade-able. But education is not for sale, education is a right! Right now it´s not like everyone has acces to this right, mostly it depends on the money of their parents. The students wants to change that - and you can see their struggle in all the world.

At the Anti-G8-Camp near Rostock this summer, called 'Camp Inski', a group of students from France, Poland, Germany and other countries had gathered together and decided to take on this Global Action Day in November, 30th. With this global action day they want to show that we are not begging anymore, but fighting for our rights, so most of them will do a reclaim the streets party - taking back the streets like we will take back the education! here is a small video which shows fights of 2006, which they want to bring together on that day...
